Working For Kensal Rise!

Things we’ve been up to in the last year:

  1. Kensal Corridor Scheme: We’re pushing to find out how it is working. Has it reduced congestion, improved traffic flow, and impacted air quality? These were the objectives but we want to know if they’ve delivered. We’re also chasing safety measures like speed cameras, traffic restriction measures and formal crossings in the Station Terrace area. We want answers and action!
  2. Conservation Designation: Properties and buildings of historical significance in Kensal Rise need to be considered for designated conservation status, There’s a consultation ongoing until 11 March – see below. Please take part!
  3. Trees: More of them. We’ve worked hard to get gaps filled in Kensal Rise, and urged councillors to deal with trees in need of attention.
  4. Supporting Residents in Station Terrace: Residents think there are far too many noisy, polluting buses here. We’ve lobbied TfL and Brent Council again and again about this.
  5. Parking: It was our petition that got the Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) bays switched to residents only, on Chamberlayne Road between Leighton Gardens and Leigh Gardens.
  6. Planning: Residents are concerned about the proposed development plans in Station Terrace so we got some changes! Here’s the developer’s response:

“We have now reviewed the comments made with our client and as a result have decided to remove much of the top floor on Dagmar Gardens and well as reducing the house by 1 floor. We are also revisiting some of the design elements on the Dagmar Gardens frontage.

  • Whitmore Gardens & College Road Street Party 2023: This was a brilliant event with more than 1,500 people, including Cllr Muhammed Butt, Brent Council Leader and Cllr Orleen Hylton, Brent Mayor. All possible through generous financial contributions from local businesses and residents, and the support given by some hard working local residents! KRRA helped the organisers all along the way.
  • Planning: We helped people in Clifford Gardens overturn plans to put a towering mast at the end of their road.
  • Local Policing: KRRA has made sure local voices have been heard at the quarterly Queens Park Ward policing meetings.
  • Collaboration with the Council: In the seemingly endless cycle of utility works, we’ve pushed for proper signage to help traffic flows.
  • Ladbroke Grove Development: KRRA members have raised concerns about the potential impact on traffic and increased air quality issues.
  • Pharmacy Closures: Residents don’t want local pharmacies to shut! We arranged a meeting between local MP Tulip Siddiq MP, and Greenfield Pharmacy.
