Campaign 1: Trees, trees and more trees!

IMG_1704

Over the years we’ve lost trees and they’ve not always been replaced.

But Kensal Rise Residents’ Association managed to get a £50,000 grant, which meant more than 100 trees being planted around the Rise.

Residents can still get gaps filled in their streets.

Daniels Estate Agents of Chamberlayne Road also generously funded the planting of 4 new trees at a cost of £1,000 and Brent Council’s matched funding meant 8 lovely new trees.

But we still want to be greener and a tree costs £250. Council funds are tight at the moment but Brent say they will match-fund any donations.

Campaign 2: TfL Funding for the Kensal Corridor Scheme

Members of the KRRA committee played a vital role in securing TfL’s initial commitment of £1.6 million for public realm improvements in the Chamberlayne Road area. However, this pledge was later reduced to £500,000 due to funding constraints faced by TfL. These funds were allocated to the Kensal Corridor Scheme, supplemented by additional funding from Brent Council.

Campaign 3: 20 mph scheme for Chamberlayne Road

Thanks to the petition signed by many of you, the KRRA successfully convinced the Council to implement a 20 mph speed limit scheme on a section of Chamberlayne Road.

Campaign 4: HGV Camera for Chamberlayne Road

Thanks to the petition signed by many of you, the KRRA effectively pressured the Council into committing to enforce weight restrictions on HGVs using Chamberlayne Road. Additionally, a dedicated camera was installed to capture only HGV violations installed.

Campaign 5: De-cluttering Chamberlayne Road of Estate Agent board clutter

The KRRA collaborated with Brent Planning to identify and address the issue of estate agent boards remaining in place long after a property had been sold or let. This joint effort resulted in the removal of numerous redundant boards, improving the aesthetic appeal of Chamberlayne Road.

Campaign 6: Better Roads and Pavements for Kensal Rise!

The KRRA persistently lobbied Brent Highways for essential pavement and road renewals throughout the Kensal Rise area, highlighting the significant lack of investment in these areas over the decades.
